international FAQ
Do you have any limits on the number of clients you take who have to travel in?
Nope! In previous years about 50% of my clients are not local to Toronto, so you are in good company!
How will I take care of my tattoo if I am travelling?
For most tattoos, I will use a tattoo second skin bandage, to ensure that your tattoo is sealed away, and with the bandage, you should be able to travel with minimal worry over the piece! I typically also provide folks with additional pieces of bandage, so that if you need to patch your tattoo up while in transit, you will have something that can at least tide you over until you have arrived home.
If you are unable to use second skin, or similar products, please let me know ahead of time in the notes of your booking inquiry, so I can plan accordingly!
Any tips for finding accommodations in Toronto?
Take all this with a grain of salt, this is tips I’ve gathered from previous clients!
There is a frequent train from Toronto Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto, and I believe the hotels near the airport will be cheaper than downtown Toronto.
The further from the downtown core (where we are located) is typically cheaper. We are located right in the heart of Toronto, and are within walking distance from Union Station, so there are many public transit options available.
If you prefer to look at Airbnb’s, you will find more of them east of the city. Within the downtown core, they are typically considered illegal short term leases, so approach with caution!
Can I schedule several appointments in a row because I am travelling?
In the past, I have allowed clients to have back to back sessions to reduce the number of sessions they are travelling for. However, I would recommend against that, for many reasons.
If you are getting a colour piece, it is typically not possible to tattoo over the same area two days in a row with colour, due to damage to the skin. So with that, I will not schedule back to backs for colour tattoos unless the piece is large enough that two discrete areas can be worked on during the trip.
The paint is also more intensive than typical tattoos, so unless one has experiences with getting tattooed previously, I would not recommend doing back-to-back sessions. At the end of the day, you are the only one who knows your body best, just keep in mind that multiple days of being tattooed can be very intensive!
The primary reason why I would dissuade back to backs unless absolutely necessary is because truthfully as an artist, I find that I work better when not tattooing like a ‘marathon’. Back to backs are quite intensive, long hours spent on the same piece, and it is a lot of pain as well. I have found my pieces tend to heal and result better when taken session by session, broadly speaking.
That being said, I respect that travelling to see me is logistically hard, and will always do my best to accomodate, including multiple sessions in a single trip! The above information is only intended to help you make the most informed decision possible. If you have any further questions regarding this, I am always open to answer!
